from Frenemies to Friends

It had been 8 year since they’d last seen each other. They weren’t even friends back then but always at each others throat, ready to fight it out. Their two best friends always jumping in to soothe things down before they exploded. 

It was January of 2005 and he’d just heard from her best friend that she was in Bangalore for a month long internship. How could he possibly miss the opportunity to see her now after all this time and see what she’d become. They were a bunch of crazy teens back then and a little less crazy twenty something now.

She’d heard he was in town too, wondered if they’d still rip each other’s throat if they met. Just then she see’s this familiar face in the crowd at the Barista smiling a wicked smile.

It was him. How could she not recognise the boy... or was it the man! “Hey! Long time” he said. She smiled, he pulled up a chair and sat down. She casually offered him a cigarette from her pack and they sat there talking for hours... from enemies to friends. All it took was an evening of conversation.

It’s been twelve years from that day in January and a lot has changed, but one thing still remains. The moment when they became best of friends.
